Newmarket Celtic B 3-0 Newcastle West Rovers
The B team continued on their journey to the Aviva Stadium with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Limerick opposition Newcastle West Rovers today.
While the visitors will no doubt have been hampered by the clash with the Limerick Intermediate Football Final between Newcastle West and Adare, this is still a statement from Newmarket Celtic against the Limerick Desmond Premier Side.
It took all of 24 minutes for the B team to open the scoring and put themselves in the driving seat.
A pin point delivery from Paudie Paudie Hayes (so good they named him twice) was heading goalwards by Ciaran McCoy and despite getting a hand on it, the Rovers keeper couldnt keep it out.
The second goal followed soon after and it looked like it was Danny Conway who got the final touch on it.
McCoy got his second when he was set clear by Ronan McCormack and had just the keeper to beat leaving it 3-0 at the break.
There could have been more in the second half but for some good goalkeeping.
There was a decent crowd in attendance, largely to see what Conor Ryan could produce this week but he failed to cross the halfway line.
The clean sheet was brought to you by the goalkeeping coaching of Johnny Ryan, nobody else contributed in any way.
This result has the FAI looking over their shoulder with a big question to answer; When Newmarket Celtic A and B meet in the FAI Junior Cup Final, do they play it in the Aviva Stadium or McDonough Park?
Time will tell...
